Change is always a little bittersweet.

I am very quickly nearing the end of my 15 week maternity leave, and while I feel extremely blessed and grateful for having such an extended period of time to spend concentrating loving on my little girl, it seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. I cannot believe it’s been over three months since I gave birth and have been away from my full-time job. Yet, thinking back to those first few days at home from the hospital compared to our comfortable routine we have now, you can easily see where the time went. It will be sad not to be able to spend so much time with my peanut, but when it really comes down to it I know that I’m happiest in the working world. I want my daughter to be proud of her mom, which means I have to strive to be my best – and for me, personally, that means working a career I love (or in my case, two!). While I may not be able to spend as many hours together as I would like, I know the hours we do spend together will be devoted, quality family time. Don’t get me wrong, I have the highest respect for stay at home mothers. They lovingly and willingly do one of the toughest jobs on the planet and do not often get the praise they deserve. However I know that I’m not well-suited for that lifestyle so I’m in the process of finding a compromise that works for us. It certainly is a a process, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out together!

As far as photography goes, I am very excited to get started on some new projects. I have some big goals to accomplish this year including a few larger scale inspiration shoots and rebranding my logo and website. Many ideas are already in the works, so it’s just a matter of pushing myself to take the steps to make them happen. Stay tuned, I’m sure it will be very exciting! I am also preparing to shoot several more weddings this year, which will kick off in May with our dear friends and former neighbors, Dan and Amber, in JP. (You can see their engagement session here: Retro Cuties.) Really excited to be back shooting in our old neighborhood and for the very best reason!

So with all of the excitement and ‘busy-ness’ that comes with getting back into the swing of things, you can say that I’m soaking up my last few days that I have with my little. I’m really going to miss our impromptu photo shoots in the middle of the afternoon, although I’m sure she’ll welcome the rest until next month. Ha!

Here are some that I took yesterday, and they are some of my favorite images I’ve taken of her so far. She has grown so much in just a few weeks! It will be such an adventure watching her grow and grow. 🙂
