Hi there, welcome!

My name is Cindy and I'm a family photographer. I want to create art for kind, loving, laid-back, genuine people. Best friends who don’t take themselves too seriously, couples who love each other deeply, families that love to giggle and snuggle. These are my people.

I spend my free time with my loves at home, experimenting in the kitchen, drinking gluten free beer, being a crazy plant lady, watching and following all things Outlander, and indulging in podcasts and audio books.

About Me

They say life is a journey and that’s certainly true in my case. I’ve always loved traveling and exploring new places, which led me to my degree in Tourism and French, followed by a couple of fantastic career opportunities. I convinced my husband to move to Boston sight unseen in 2010 and we spent an amazing eight and a half years on the East Coast. (If you’re interested to hear more of my background and how I got started in business, check out this Boston Voyager article in which I was honored to be featured!)

My husband and I refocused our priorities in 2018, and chose to move home to Michigan in order to raise our kids near family. In the process, I’ve realized that documentary family photography is the genre I’m meant to create. It caters to so many of my natural inclinations and strengths – no pretense, authentic and laid back, recognizing human connection in every day activities, and observing others. To me, there’s nothing better than documenting real, genuine, every day life.

Storytelling Sessions

If you're here, you must be in the market for quality photography for your family. That's fantastic! Your journey will start with a discussion to learn about the services and products that I offer and chat about your goals for the photo session. We will discuss options to find a great fit for your family - not only in terms of the type of session and investment, but also beautiful tangible artwork you'll be able to keep and display for years to come. Your first step is to decide on the length of your session. Are you interested in a quick one hour photo shoot outside? Or would you love to have a full day documenting your current season of life?

Slice of Life (1-3 hours, choice of lifestyle or documentary)

Lifestyle: Gently posed and guided instruction with some fun candids thrown in for good measure. Think traditional portrait with everyone smiling directly at the camera, lots of tickling contests, joke telling, and sitting on blankets during the golden hour.

Documentary: Unposed, undirected, creative images focused on genuine every day moments. These types of images are especially great for parents who tend to be absent from their day to day photo reel because they are always behind the camera. Making breakfast pancakes, fun family outings, summer sprinklers and popsicles, and bedtime routines are all perfect opportunities for incredible documentary images.

Full Day in the Life (Breakfast until Bedtime, 10-12 hours)

Looking for the ultimate storytelling experience? A Day in the Life offers a full day of documentary goodness and plenty of flexibility. It is the ultimate way to get truly comfortable in front of the camera and allows me to document all those subtle ways you love and care for each other. It's a wonderful option for day trips or just simply capturing a typical day around the house. These types of sessions lend beautifully to albums and multimedia pieces for family heirlooms.

Client Testimonial

"My husband hates posed pictures - anytime I suggest getting family photos done he cringes - so when Cindy offered her "Day in the Life" series I jumped at the chance to get some real, fun photos of our family. The results were amazing! Prior to her coming I felt a little uneasy about someone following us around and (gasp) photographing my house... but Cindy made it very comfortable. She was engaging and non-intrusive... and I am IN LOVE with the resulting photos."
